If you would like Warpton to consider you as a potential
writer, please read the following guidelines:
We are looking
for three main things in all samples:
1. Your
ability to tell a story.
2. Your ability to tell a story through images and words.
3. The style of your writing.
Comic books are a storytelling
medium. Samples should demonstrate your ability to tell
a story in a sequence of pictures.
How you lay out the script and the amount of detail you
give will create the look to the story.
You should provide
the following:
A half page synopsis - telling
the story.
The script to the story/issue etc.
Anything else that you think we should know.
When writing
your synopsis, consider the following things:
What is your goal? - To make the reader want to ask more
about the story, but also to understand the idea, theme and
style of the comic.
Do
not underestimate the importance of a good synopsis.
This is the first introduction to the story, characters,
situations, conflicts, and resolution. These are the
crucial components that need to come out in the outline.
Stylistic Requirements
Comic-book writing is about telling
a story in pictures, with words supplementing the visual
storytelling. No matter
what genre you want to work in, comic books convey, through
pictures and words, action, movement, and urgency; a sense
of drama and grandeur and "larger than life" excitement.
